Local

Currently, I find myself in a place that is called the western slope of Colorado. Situated, halfway between Denver and Salt Lake  City, this part of the state sees much less traffic than other places. I snapped this picture of the surrounding grassland and alkali flats recently on my way into town. Since then I have been staying in town.

Edge

This post is all about going over the edge. This is something that you definitely do not want to do at this place, even if you are in a wooden barrel.

In this current election cycle, “going over the edge” seems to have become the norm. Perhaps, if some of the major candidates would cross the border and consider going over the edge from this viewpoint, they might think twice.  And then again they might not, for sometimes they appear to be in a self destructive mode.

This picture is framed in a way, where the two lines of train cars form a narrow place. From this point the photographer can continue walking or trace his steps back out of this narrow place.

Cherry On Top

The phrase “cherry on top” makes me think of an ice cream sundae or something sweet like that. As for me personally, I have never cared for the preserved red cherry on top, but I do enjoy fresh cherries immensely. Besides the obvious Christian theme, maybe that is what this picture is about. Enjoy and here is the official definition for the phrase according to the Oxford dictionary.

“A desirable feature perceived as the finishing touch to something that is already very good.”       Fits this picture very well, don’t you think.

Detail

Here, in Venice, the “Devil” is (definitely) in the detail. The new metal door recently installed in the much older building, though a little out of place, appears perfectly functional and looks like it is good operating condition.

What needs to be pointed out here is that Venice, Italy is a city, situated just a few feet above sea level and so those cracks in the wall may be caused by the overwhelming presence of sea water in the immediate vicinity.

Furthermore, Venice may also be a bellwether locale, for the distinct possibility that our sea levels are rising and this phenomena may be causing and will cause problems along some coastlines in the near future.

A Curved Phenomena

Here we have a straight telephone pole that has a distinctively curved shadow. There are two possible explanations for the curved shape of the shadow in this photo. One is that the building is moving at a very high rate of speed and thus the curved shadow. The other possibility is the surface of the building is not square, but rounded instead. What is your opinion?
